What's the best fence for a dog?

It depends on the dog. For large, energetic breeds we recommend 6' wood or vinyl privacy to remove sight-line triggers. For medium dogs, 5' chain-link or ornamental aluminum works well. For escape artists, we add a buried bottom rail or concrete kick-board to stop digging.

How tall should a dog fence be?

4' is the minimum for small dogs. 5' is standard for medium dogs. 6' is recommended for large or jumping breeds (huskies, shepherds, retrievers). For Olympic-level jumpers, we add a lean-in topper.

Can you build a fence that stops digging?

Yes. We bury the bottom rail 6-12 inches, pour a concrete kick-board, or run buried hardware cloth as a dig-guard. Most aggressive diggers stop within a few weeks of a properly built dig barrier.

Do you build separate dog runs or enclosures?

Yes. Standalone chain-link dog runs, kennel enclosures with concrete pads, and split yards (kids on one side, dogs on the other) are common requests. We'll design around your yard.

Is invisible / underground fencing something you install?

We focus on physical fences — they're more reliable, work in power outages, and contain dogs that have learned to push through buried-wire systems. We're happy to consult on the right physical option for your dog.

Wood or Vinyl Privacy (6'): Best for reactive, anxious, or large dogs. Removes sight-line triggers (other dogs, joggers, mail carriers) and gives them a calm yard.

Chain-Link (5-6'): Cost-effective, durable, and easy to add a top-rail or lean-in topper for jumpers. Black vinyl-coated chain-link blends into landscaping better than galvanized.

Ornamental Aluminum (5-6'): Clean look for the front yard. Add "puppy picket" bottom panels to keep small dogs and puppies from squeezing through the standard 4" rail gaps.
