Bardstown is the official Bourbon Capital of the World, and Nelson County houses the highest concentration of distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail — Heaven Hill, Barton 1792, Willett, Lux Row, Preservation, Log Still, and additional distillery campuses just outside the county line. The distillery build-out has driven a parallel boom in tourism, commercial development, and supporting infrastructure.
Outside the bourbon economy, Nelson County still runs working horse farms, cattle operations, and substantial agricultural land across the rolling Knobs.
